My Tape Lamp

This is my very own tape lamp at home in my humble Dalston flat. Its made up from a combination of rolls all stacked up and ready for anything.

It is a slight leaning tower but much loved just the same. A friend of mine today asked for a few rolls as he thought that i was just storing them here on this lamp... needless to say i was most offended.

I know these photos are quite repetitive but i'm very proud of this little number.

There is a cute little Korean site called 10x10 (http://www.10x10.co.kr) that sell these excellent masking tape packs. Not only do they sell them but they also shown you how you can use them.

They come like a little packet of sweets in an amazing array of colours.

Once i find a korean to befriend i will be straight back on this site ordering some of these for me.

Presents

Often where there is tape, there is a present. I wrapped up this present for my friend tom using waxed fabric and a broken measuring tape as a ribbon that i had sitting around at my desk. I thought it made a very nice little package and here are a couple of pictures.

I think that a little matching card can sometimes make all the difference... and in this case, there was no sticky tape involved at all.

The bottom of the white bit is cut using pinking shears which completes the tailoring story... in case you are curious, the present was an old school casio calculator watch.

Dedece Designer Railway and Road Tape

Good to see that Dedece is selling is great tape, i actually picked up a roll when i was in Tokyo last year. The tape is luxury all the way, you can feel it in every fibre of its stickiness.

Its by a company called D-Bros, It is made in Japan designed by a guy called Ryosuke Uehara. Its 50 metres long and 5cm wide for all those who want the specifics amounting in one generous roll of tape.

Its not cheap at $20 a roll, but i tell you its well worth it. This tape bridges the gap between packing tape and interactive graphic toys. As you can see with this railway tape you could construct your own train system from all the different components included in the graphic.

The road scene even has its own pedestrian crossing.
